Accomplishments

In operation since 2006, the Women’s Fund is successful due to the collaborative effort of over 300 women - donors, volunteers, community and business leaders – all helping women become financially independent.

Over 250 women have pledged at least $500 to support women in our community; and more than 100 additional women have provided financial, volunteer and in-kind support services.

The Fund has awarded over $540,000 in scholarships, mentorship programs, emergency funds and grants:

  • $168,500 in grants to 19 organizations
  • Since 2010, $440,000 in scholarships to over 90 women attending Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) and SUNY Schenectady County Community College (SCCC)
  • $14,200 in funding for an Emergency Fund at SCCC that is available to assist non-traditional female students who are experiencing unusual or severe financial strain due to a sudden unforeseen crisis outside of their control
  • $2,500 to HVCC for a mentoring initiative

The Women’s Fund is the single largest scholarship donor at HVCC and SCCC.

In spring 2013, the Fund launched its Mentorship Program and facilitated workshops at SCCC and HVCC, helping women recognize the power of their own dreams. There were seven mentoring events.
