On Friday, March 21 at Wolferts Roost Country Club, The Women’s Fund of the Capital Region celebrated and honored our 2025 Trailblazer and WERC’s Community Leading Star.
2025 Trailblazer: This outstanding woman of achievement has blazed trails and impacted the lives of women and girls in our community:
Karen Carpenter, President and CEO, Vanderheyden
2025 WERC’s Community Leading Star: Through her commitment to community service, she makes a positive impact and is a role model for women of all ages.
Megan Allen, CEO, New York Council of Nonprofits, Inc. (NYCON)
Our Honorary Committee Chair was Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill, a Women's Fund 2019 Trailblazer.
Our honorees presented a panel discussion: Educating and Inspiring Generations. They shared compelling stories on this topic in a conversation moderated by Benita Zahn, DPS, MS, CHWC, NBC-HWC.
Two scholarship recipients shared their inspiring stories, including how their Women's Fund scholarship has helped them achieve their goals. We were honored to continue celebrating Kathy Russom’s life through the scholarship in her name, funded by the Pursuit Board of Directors.
Doors opened at 11:00 a.m. for people to socialize and bid on our Silent Auction; the lunch was served at noon.
