The Women’s Fund of the Capital Region is dedicated to investing and working together to make a difference in the lives of women and girls. We believe that education and training lead to better jobs and careers, which are key to ensuring the economic security of women.
The Women’s Fund is providing impactful scholarships, mentoring programs, and emergency funds through Hudson Valley Community College and Schenectady County Community College. Our focus on educational initiatives is making a difference.
Please join us in our goal of increasing educational and scholarship initiatives and assisting in building the endowment capacity of the Women’s Fund. Giving Tuesday is December 2nd. Together and in partnership with this global day of giving, we can prioritize the needs of women and girls!
At $2500 a semester, the Women’s Fund can provide a full tuition scholarship to a deserving woman who has returned to college to advance her education and chances economically.

Volunteer Kate Dudding says, "I'm giving to the WF because 20% of women-headed households in the Capital Region live in poverty. The WF is changing this - so far we've given 36 $5,000 two-semester tuition scholarships to women attending Hudson Valley and Schenectady County Community Colleges."
Former chairwoman of the WF Susan Haigh Houpt said she will give to the Women's Fund on Tuesday "because I have met the women who have received the scholarships, heard their stories, and looked them in the eye as they thanked the Women's Fund for making a big difference in their lives and the lives of their families."
Steering Committee Co-Chair Tricia Tauss says, "I'm giving to the Women's Fund of the Capital Region because The Women's Fund provides an opportunity for me to pay it forward to my 'sisters' in the Capital Region. Our scholarships and mentoring programs enable students at HVCC and SCCC to have a better chance at achieving their goals."
Steering Committee member Madeline Connolly says, "The scholarships provided by the WF help the recipients feel confident as they pursue their education - confident because there is an organization like the WF who is behind them and believe in them. I feel that an education is empowering. I am proud to provide support to such a wonderful organization."
Volunteer Gloria H. Rodgers says, "I'm giving to the WF because knowledge is power and the WF Scholarship Program is helping women gain the knowledge and tools needed to achieve their economic independence."
Steering Committee member Amy Clinton says, "I am giving to the Women’s Fund of the Capital Region on #GivingTuesday because the Women’s Fund and its donors and volunteers work to empower women and girls to reach their full potential through education and economic stability. Even one year of postsecondary education can make a difference in the life of a woman, increasing her annual income and ensuring that she can move out of poverty."
