Sr. Constance Casey, snjm
President and CEO, Academy of the Holy Names

Sister Connie has devoted her professional life to providing quality education for young women and to seeking ways to extend this educational opportunity to the poor and economically disadvantaged. She is a member of the religious congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Sister Connie began her teaching career in elementary schools in Winchester, Virginia and Liverpool, New York. Since 1969, Sister Connie has been an administrator, first as principal of the Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, Florida then as principal of the Academy of the Holy Names in Albany and currently serves as President there.

In her twenty seven years at the Academy for the Holy Names in Albany, Sister Connie has provided charismatic leadership in the mission of educating young women for leadership, academic excellence, character and faith development and service to others.

In her remarks, Sr. Connie described a trailblazer as a person who marks a trail through the wilderness. She said she believed she had been doing just the ordinary callings of life and responding to the needs she saw. She added that she tries to serve as a role model for young people and in particular for young women.

We were very sad to learn that Sister Constance Casey, snjm passed away on March 14, 2012.

As Educational Coordinator for the “A World of Difference” project, Jane trained hundreds of teachers in the Greater Capital District area.

Jane has been recognized in the supermarket industry for her work at Price Chopper, where she has developed and managed innovative new programs.
